Sew Pony Jeune Twinset Blog Tour

Friday, May 11, 2018

Good morning!

Today is the last day of the Sew Pony Jeune Twinset blog tour and it has been so much fun seeing everyone's Jeune sets! I love seeing a pattern in a variety of fabrics and styled different ways - so inspirational!

For my Jeune, I wanted something that screamed summer. I am a huge fan of flamingo prints, as is Joni. When I saw this Birch Croquet Organic Poplin randomly pop up on my Pinterest feed one night, I knew I had to have it. This poplin has such a lovely feel and was perfect for this top! The top is fully lined so I chose a lightweight Batiste blend that I got from Joanns to keep the airy feel that I knew she would need in the hotter months.

The skirt is Andover Chambray in the Ocean color way. Purchasing both the flamingo and chambray online in hopes of a color match was a gamble but it went together perfectly!!!!! I would like to think that it was meant to be. ☺️ Joni opted for no pockets on her skirt (I was so sad!!!!) but am hoping to whip up another one in the coming months with the pockets because they are just too cute!

I didn't have the proper width elastic on hand that the pattern called for and wasn't sure I would be able to make it to town to get some in the correct width, so I deviated a little and added three rows of narrower elastic. I added a faux drawstring side tie with fun tassels that I made from embroidery thread.

The wood buttons are from Joann's and I will definitely be repurchasing more of these. They are flatter than most wood buttons I have bought in the past which makes it easier for them to slide through the buttonholes!

My favorite part about the top is the back cut-outs - they are the perfect little detail! I love this little set so much because she can mix and match with other pieces of clothing in her closet for a wide variety of outfit pairings!

I chose the size 5 with 1/2" added to the top length and 1.5" added to the skirt length. For reference, my daughter is 7 years old with a chest measurement of 23" and is 49" tall. The fit is perfect and accurate to the size chart.

I am so pleased with how this set turned out, I think it is SO freaking cute and I can't wait to make another! 😍

That wraps it up for me! I hope you all loved the version I made and decide to sew one up for a special girl in your life! You can grab the pattern in both English or Dutch on the SewPony website and use the code JEUNETOUR (May 2nd-12th) for 10% off your purchase!

Happy Sewing,
Angie
